week focus: Integrity in how we see ourselves
KNOW: Seek
knowledge by doing all of the following:
1) Plan out your week and either write it down
in your planner or plan it out with your parent/running partner.
2) Read the quote and scripture for the month
and the following: “I am sure that in estimating every man’s value either in
private or public life pure integrity is the quality we take first into
calculation and that learning and talents are only the second.” --Thomas Jefferson. Explain to at least one person what the quote
means to you.

Read Da Vinci Excerpt #7
Corporalita: The cultivation of Grace, ambidexterity, fitness and poise

4) Read Ch. 17-25 in “Star Girl: bring your favorite quote or
part to share.
5)
Read the article at: https://www.lds.org/youth/article/truth-lies-and-your-self-worth?cid=HPTU020414434&im=true&lang=engsv,jdg , watch at least one of the related
videos at the bottom, and bring your favorite quote to share.
6)
Jump into our study of the microscope this month by learning more about
microscopes and Van Leeuwenhoek:

Read
excerpt from “Microbe Hunters” on Van Leeuwenhoek (see yahoo group or email to
come)
As
we study the microscope, may we learn how to examine ourselves and other things
on a deeper, truer level.

Understanding: Do at least two of the inspirements below or
come up with your own:

Prayerfully
read and watch more of the links from the article about “Truth, Lies, and your
Self-Worth.” Share with us what you learned.
·
Who
is Star Girl? Draw a “microscope” image
of who she is: if you were to look at her “under a microscope,” what would you
see? Write or draw your answers in any way you want to.
·
If
you have access to a microscope, find 5 things to identify and examine under a
microscope. Draw what you see and bring
it to class or to a parent to share.
·
Make
a presentation or send a collection of pictures with odd, beautiful, or just
items made distinctly different by putting them under a microscope (like
chalk!)
·
Interview
someone who honestly evaluates and seeks to improve themselves. Ask them how they do it and how it has
blessed them. Return and report your
findings to us, a mentor or parent or write it in your journal.

Intelligence: Create
Intelligence by participating in YOGA (bring comfortable clothes!) and doing
one of the following:

Look
at the self-rules Da Vinci made for himself in the Da Vinci excerpt #6. How are
you doing with them in your life?
Evaluate how you are doing and then make a plan of action wherever you
feel prayerfully inspired to change your exercise or eating habits.
·
Teach
what you have learned about this week to another group of students, adults, or
siblings, then come and share how it went J.
·
If
you were to use a “human microscope” to examine what made you you, what would it look
like? Draw it and bring it to class to
show us or show a parent or trusted friend or sibling. Ask them if it truly reflects who you are.
