February Week 4: Imaginative Arts

WEEK 4: CORE Imaginative Arts: Sacrifice to serve

Knowledge: Seek knowledge by doing all of the following
#1 Plan out your week and either write it down in your planner or plan it out with your parent/running partner.
#2 Read the scripture for the month and Gettysburg address at least one time; come prepared to pass it off if you memorized it!
#3“Way To Be”: Ch 7: Be Humble and write down or highlight and bring at least one favorite quote or part.
#4 Finish “A Long Walk to Water.” Bring at least one favorite quote or favorite part.
#5 Read Matthew 10:39: “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.”
#6 Watch the following:

Understanding: Turn knowledge to understanding by doing one or more of the following
-Look around you and identify 5 ways people are serving or have served in your immediate community: women’s shelters, food banks, etc.  Bring them to class to share or post them online before class.
-Have a discussion with your family and discuss your most meaningful service you have given as a family and how it made you feel.  Would you do it again?  What would you do differently?
-Research more into what Salva Dut has been doing in Africa if you haven’t already and share your findings with us or someone else.
-Do a word study on a word that stands out to you after all your reading and experiences this month.

Intelligence:  Turn understanding into intelligence by applying it to your life by doing the following:
-Come with us on our service field trip to the Love Soup Kitchen!  We will be doing or final discussion of “A Long Walk to Water” on the way there or back in your vehicles.  Prepare to serve!  We need to be on our best behavior.  The lady who runs this service project is pretty selective about who she will let come, and expects us to be on our best behavior.  I know you will be wonderful!
